Trade Show Executive, a nationally recognized B2B magazine enterprise serving the exhibitions industry seeks an assistant editor to support the development and management of our editorial content. He or she will be actively involved in writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading original and contributed content to bolster our existing team and increase efficiency of our workflows. Ideal candidate should be looking to advance to a managing editor role.

Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Fact check, edit, and proofread contributed content for our media publications
  • Assist team with author/contributor outreach as needed
  • Assist in shepherding articles through pipeline to print
  • Provide editorial backup for sales/marketing email preparation as needed
  • Participate in editorial calendar development
  • Assist with the production of podcasts and other online media assets



  • Ability to write, edit and proof copy of varying lengths and scopes for print and digital audiences, quickly and accurately, and with attention to detail
  • Know how to fact check and can spot/correct inaccuracies
  • Excellent business communication skills
  • Strong SEO skills for various online platforms
  • Strong reporting and interviewing capabilities for in-person, on-site and over-the-phone circumstances
  • Ability to meet provided deadlines
  • Take initiative in completing and developing assignments and managing own deadlines
  • Can work independently
  • Good interpersonal skills; a team player
  • Ability to discern editorial from sales copy
  • Open to feedback; can take a suggestion and apply it quickly and consistently

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or communications, or related field
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying journalistic principles, interviewing, fact checking, sourcing, etc.
  • At least two years of experience in trade/business-to-business publishing, or experience with writing/editing for specific audiences: 3-5 years preferred
  • Skilled writer and editor with experience creating and managing website content
  • Capable of meeting a combination of daily and long-term deadlines on a regular and ongoing basis
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Know how to properly vet and attribute sources
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with WordPress, MailChimp and Abode software a plus
